Many ranches close down when the temperatures start to fall and the leaves start to turn. But Geronimo Trail Guest Ranch is still open in September, October, and November. If you are looking for an adult only dude ranch vacation, fall is the perfect time to visit. Oftentimes people will wait for children to go back to school in August and the weather to cool down before heading out on an autumn guest ranch vacation.
Fall in New Mexico still has warm sunny days while the nights are cool and crisp. If you’ve never experienced the elk rut, the Gila National Forest is the perfect place to witness it first hand. Hearing an elk bugle is a thrilling, yet haunting experience and fall is the best time to hear it. In the Gila National Forest, you can also witness the changing colors of fall. The leaves of the cottonwood turn yellow along the warm spring-fed creeks. On the distant hillsides, aspen trees start to blanket the hillsides in gold. Pops of brilliant red come from the Virginia Creeper vine.
Albuquerque is the most convenient airport to Geronimo Trail Guest Ranch and most of our guests add on several extra days to their stay to enjoy more of what New Mexico has to offer. Read on below for some of the New Mexico fall events you can add on to your itinerary.
