Here’s a breakdown of what to expect during your stay with us:
Unlimited Horseback Riding and Hiking
At Geronimo Trail Guest Ranch, you’ll have the opportunity to ride our well-trained horses – as much or as little as you’d like. We can accommodate any experience levels as long as you are physically fit and bring a learning mindset. We will match you to one of our well-cared for, responsive mounts so that you can enjoy your rides to the fullest! A horseback orientation/demonstration is always included prior to your first ride. The well-being of our horses is one of the most important things to us. If you come to ride with us, you may be asked to do things differently than you have done during previous riding experiences. Our focus is on good horsemanship and you will find many opportunities to learn no matter your experience level, and challenge yourself if you desire. Bring a learning mindset and expect a wonderful educational experience! You will enjoy one of the most beautiful places in the world, riding through deep canyons, across crystal-clear streams, through wide-open meadows and Ponderosa pine forests, and up to vast mountain overlooks . No two trails are the same and you can easily spend days exploring this beautiful wilderness. At the end of each ride, enjoy some quality bonding time brushing your horse.
In addition to horseback riding, you’ll find excellent opportunities for learning about the history of the area or hiking on your own. Get out and explore the Gila National Forest: go for an educational outing with Meris and Seth to explore 1,000-year-old archaeological sites right near the ranch or go hiking on your own to enjoy birdwatching, flora, fauna, or and climb up to an overlook to take in the vast, boundless land!
Cozy Accommodations
We offer four comfortable cabins at the ranch that can accommodate a maximum of 8 guests. Because our ranch is small, you’ll find many opportunities to relax and bond with your loved ones. Each of our cabins includes comfortable accommodations and all the little details you need to make it a home away from home! You will enjoy views of the horses right out your cabin window, as well as complimentary Geronimo Trail Guest Ranch water bottles.
Educational Experiences
We love to share our local knowledge and educate guests about New Mexico history. We will take you to 1,000-year-old archaeological sites where many ancient artifacts still remain! For those who are physically fit enough to hike 2 miles over rough, rocky terrain and climb up and down steep slopes, you will discover pit houses, cliff dwellings, pottery shards, and historic pictographs. Learn about the Mimbres Indians, the famous Apache warrior Geronimo, Basque Sheepherders, tin mining, and more. We look forward to sharing the fascinating local history with you!
Ranch Activities and Entertainment
When you’re not out exploring, you’ll also find plenty of fun things to do right here at the ranch! Feel free to play one of our board games or choose one of our Western films and have a movie night. Gather around the propane firepit to share stories. Enjoy some of the clearest night skies in the country, making for fantastic stargazing!
