At Geronimo Trail Guest Ranch, you will ride together as a family. We are a small ranch, and although we do not have a dedicated children’s program or babysitting services, we have plenty of ways to keep the kids busy! The minimum age for children to ride horses on the trail is six years old. We also offer short pony rides on the ranch property for children younger than six. Our horses are well-trained and can accommodate any level of rider. Get to know our horses a bit better by visiting our horses’ profile page! Please keep in mind there is a rider weight limit of 230 pounds. Horseback riding requires a certain amount of physical fitness. These requirements help us ensure the safety and comfort of both our riders and horses.
In addition to horseback riding, our ranch also offers unlimited hiking opportunities. Swimming in the creek is another popular summertime activity, so remember to bring your swimsuit! You can also try your hand at roping our horseshoes.
When it comes time to settle down for the evening, horseshoes along with a variety of board games are available. For family members who prefer to relax, our bench swings and chaise lounges are a few of the many restful spots on the property.
During your stay, don’t miss out on the opportunity to explore the Gila’s caves and cliff dwellings! A people called The Mimbres were here from 200-1150 AD, and pieces of their civilization still remain, including pit houses, pottery shards, pictographs, and countless artifacts. You will also learn about the famous Apache warrior, Geronimo, who was born in this area. Discover shelters from the Basque people who brought sheep through the area 100 years ago, and even see the remains of a tin mine operation. There are so many ways to immerse yourself in history during your stay at Geronimo Trail Guest Ranch!
